Heather Burning
At the start of the heather burning season a break in the weather means burning can start.
Burning is carried out to regenerate the moor, and to reduce the fuel load to help prevent out of control wild fires.
These small fast burns don't damage the moor, they are what is known as cool burns, and they are used around the world to regenerate vegetation.

Crop Protection

I spent an hour pigeon decoying over OSR and Turnip this morning, and decided to take the GoPro. The images are a little small but what great fun! Gun.....28bore Cartridges, 21 gram 6 shot, homeloads Shooter....meat eating, heterosexual, male.....top guy. The farmer has recently sown Oil Seed Rape, and Turnips for fodder, and was getting hammered. Enjoy
How fast can a mole dig?
Переглядів 243 тис.6 років тому
Ever wondered just how fast the British mole can dig itself into the ground? Probably not :-) This quick video shows just how quick they can do it, and apparently they can dig up to 30 metres a day underground...thats some going! Moles have a challenging relationship with man. Their runs can assist drainage, but on the whole they are seen as an agricultural pest. The molehills, that they push u...
Quick HMR pest control
Переглядів 15 тис.6 років тому
The HMR is ideal for fast pest control, when spending a lot of time stalking them with a .22LR isn't viable. Its how we keep on top of the rabbits, without wiping them out, which nobody wants. It also shows that contrary to what some people say, the HMR doesn't always scare of the other rabbits.
Wabbit season
Переглядів 18 тис.6 років тому
A new one for 2018, and a little taster of things to come. Nothing too long range with the HMR, but an enjoyable session and some useful rabbit bait for traps. For those of you that don't realise it, rabbits are not cute fluffy animals that want to be pampered, they are agricultural pests, that cause enormous damage to crops and young trees. They also have to be controlled by law in the UK. As ...
HMR Reaction to the shot
Переглядів 123 тис.6 років тому
If you don't like hunting, put your finger away and don't press play!!! This is a video showing the typical reaction to a good head shot, on young rabbits. This was one of 3 rabbits taken this evening, all head shots and all displaying the same reaction. The other two were taken much closer. I never seem to see the same reaction with adult rabbits. There is a good video on youtube were an exper...
.17 HMR 239 yards
Переглядів 68 тис.7 років тому
This one is for centralmswhc01, like a few other viewers, who like to see the HMR in action. The early footage is a little grainy, as it was taken just after first light, on what is quite a dull day. After the shot, and if you are interested, there is a little more chit chat about various things. Peter rabbit and his wife are going to end up on the barb b q. I am using the usual Hornady vmax 17...
.20calibre Magpie Headshot 242yards.
Переглядів 18 тис.7 років тому
Having watched the magpies going in and out of the hawthorns, and finally raiding a nest of a chick, it was time for this little fella to go. This is a hunting channel, don't press play if you don't want to watch it. There is also footage of the terminal ballistics, so again please don't watch if offended. The reason i have included the end shot of the magpie, is to demonstrate to, and educate ...
Brown Hares - Lepus Europaeus

I was out this morning when I saw these 2 hares running towards me. For those of you that know me, you will know that I think the hare is a magical creature. Just a short clip, nothing special. Stay to watch the slow motion at the end. Enjoy
Shooting Records
Переглядів 6 тис.7 років тому
A new mini series of 2 minute tutorials, as a result of being asked the same questions by many people. It is geared towards those of you that wish to extend your accurate field shooting. The first one in this series, is on the vitally important aspect of keeping a thorough and accurate record of all your shooting, including settings, weather conditions, point of impact etc. The reason this is s...
"Board Trap" for mice
Переглядів 24 тис.7 років тому
A modern take on the old board clap trap, a homemade mouse trap that is very effective. I made this trap some time ago and thought is was worthy of a short video. You may wish to check the relevant laws in your country to see if they allow this sort of trap to be used legally. (what is the world coming to :-) )
.204 ruger, crow 467 yards.
Переглядів 49 тис.7 років тому
I was out this morning in several spots, hoping to catch a fox going home, but settled for a carrion crow. It was my first time out with a new scope, a Vortex Viper HST, and a weather flow blue tooth wind meter. I chose the Vortex after seeing plenty of good reviews on youtube. The weather flow is a great bit of kit, but it is only an aid, and very definately cannot be used as a real time guide...
The Rat Trap
Переглядів 29 тис.7 років тому
Some more shooting videos coming soon, but here is a short film, on how I trapped a rat this afternoon in the garden. Its the usual way I do it, but this afternoon I set up the GoPro and waited for the inevitable. Rats are carriers of fatal diseases, and despite what some people might think, they have no place in my garden. The trap I am using is a Mark 4 Fenn, perfectly legal in the UK.
Rat shoot with NiteSite Viper and .22LR
Переглядів 47 тис.7 років тому
We have been having a problem recently with rats nicking the wheat that we put out for the pheasants. We have some rough weather forecast for the next few days with a big dump of snow, so I thought I would spend 20 minutes and ambush a few of the little buggers. I am using my CZ452 in .22LR and my NiteSite Viper which is great for this sort of operation. I must add that the clarity through the ...

Hi, great and easy to understand instructional video. I am interested in making my own fishnet, I have searched for the correct cord (Material) to use. You are obviously very adept with your skill in net making, so could you let me know which material would be best? i,e, nylon, monofilament etc? (Or a list of materials for fresh water netting)

Great videos. Question. I use cal 28 almost on any kind of animal. We have problems in finding Buck amunition, only #7. We have to open the shell and chance the amunition, but the amount of powder I think Is critical. What size of lead ball do you recomend? The brand of the shells is Rio from Spain. Hoping to receive an answer. 👍🙏
